Baltic Raw

Hamburg group Baltic Raw (Móka Farkas, Christoph Janiesch, Berndt Jasper) is once again creating the Festival Avant-Garden: Surrounded by diverse plants that are invited to grow, they create SITZBURGH – a composition made up of seating sculptures for different postures and states of consciousness. The centre of the Avant-Garden forms the new KANALSPIELHAUS FLORA, an accessible sculpture with its own programme of events. With this project, Baltic Raw, whose pieces have been shown at venues including the Expo Shanghai, the Hamburg Kunsthalle and frequently at Kampnagel, once again take up a critical urban discourse. This years’ creation once again reflects on the city’s relationship with its buildings, artists and residents. The building will be ready in time for the 25th anniversary of the occupied Rote Flora building in Schanzenstraße, which still is the heart of the discussion regarding the most recent Hamburg property speculation, artistic resistance and police intervention.
