Black Midi

The much-vaunted Corona acceleration seems to have somehow passed Black Midi by. Instead of dealing with sourdough and Netflix, the London band hung out in the studio to work on a new album. With all the success, hype and critical praise which the band received for their debut »Schlangenheim«, that seems not like the easiest job. But easy is rather boring in Black Midi's understanding, and indeed they have added another layer of madness and attention to detail for »Cavalcade« and have already secured themselves a place in the countless best-of-the-year lists. A cavalcade, by the way, describes a ceremonial procession and accordingly each track on the album is dedicated to a personality. The personnel here includes historical figures such as the fallen leader of a forgotten cult to Marilyn Monroe, who then form a surreal procession together, amid much noise. After a show that sold out in no time in 2019, Black Midi now comes to Kampnagel for the second time in autumn to present their new album live. Hypernervous jazz-noise rock remains systemically relevant!
