A solo allows you to take a space for yourself, with individual tempo, your own arrangement and your own rhythm. In his new piece, Laurent Chétouane seeks to translate this subjective moment to a group of people. So he lets three dancers consider a space as soloists, together and at the same time. They negotiate ever-changing possibilities for co-existence, for territorial and rhythmic organisation. In SOLOISTS, two former members of the Forsythe Company, Ioannis Mandafounis and Roberta Mosca and long-standing Chétouane dancer Mikael Marklund, create an evening of dance that is both sensitive and sustained by mutual attention. The French choreographer is a regular guest at Kampnagel, most recently with the premiere of BACH/PASSION/JOHANNES, which concluded his examination of the meaning of ‘Open’.
