World-class choreographer Damien Jalet brings dance of his own making to Hamburg for the first time: OMPHALOS, developed together with 20 dancers from Mexico’s Production Center of Contemporary Dance (CEPRODAC), is also his first Latin American collaboration. Jalet and his ensemble were inspired to create OMPHALOS based on nearly forgotten old European and indigenous myths about the origins of Mexico, working these up into a reflection on being human and the situatedness of human life in the cosmos. The set, a larger-then-life satellite dish on which the dancers move, is a symbol of the future. With music by Marihiko Hara and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
