The workshop DOING ACCESS DIFFERENTLY, led by disabled artist Noemi Lakmaier with DisOrdinary Architecture co-founder Jos Boys, explores ways of rethinking building access beyond basic functional ‘accommodations’, that is merely mechanical amendments to normative design as add-ons at the end of the process. Instead, they ask how we can both ‘crip’ and ’queer’ access – to provoke alternative forms of practice and creativity. Lakmaier and Boys will introduce issues not normally explored in architectural access guidance, such as risk, trust and intimacy.
