The works of Israeli choreographer Emanuel Gat are like a living, breathing organism: movements flow in and out of each other, dancers come together in groups and disperse into scattered solos, while the whole composition is held together by a highly musical, complex pulse. With his company Gat has established himself as an outstanding choreographer, who has been awarded accolades such as the State of Israel’s culture prize and the New York Bessie Award. He now presents his latest piece, PLAGE ROMANTIQUE in Hamburg. In this »choreographic musical « Gat complements the intricate rhythm of his choreography with a soundtrack produced live by the dancers. They sing, play guitars and make noises with their bodies – a simultaneously intelligent and also playfully humourous continuation of his previous choreographic investigation of the musicality of dance. Gat’s ability to make this look so simple, easy and natural is the identifying mark of his art.
