Ricardo Urbina

I AM DIFFERENT is Ricardo Urbina's first full-length work, in which the traditional pas de deux in ballet are redefined and the classic role distribution is broken. Inspired by the Muxe, who are recognized as a third gender in Mexico, a space is created to tell one's own story and draw parallels between tradition, discipline, and the experience of otherness. Muxe transcend the binary and possess a rich cultural heritage dating back to pre-colonial
times. Combining body and voice, the piece explores questions of belonging and identity, breaking down traditional gender roles and offering a space to express one's identity freely.
