For the fifth time, Florentina Holzinger will be a guest at the International Summer Festival. And as the sizes of her productions grow, so do the queues waiting for tickets at our box office. Influenced by pop culture and dance history, the Austrian choreographer frenetically mixes show business with high culture, humor and horror to create spectacular performances which have won her fans throughout the world. After a group quarantine and corona tests TANZ will be given its first outing since the outbreak here in Kampnagel K6.

TANZ begins with a ballet lesson under the strict direction of Beatrice »Trixie« Cordua - the first ballerina to dance LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS naked in John Neumeier's 1972 Hamburg version. Florentina Holzinger quickly turns this surreal training session into an exaggerated porno shoot – although one which refuses to be seen through any sort of voyeuristic gaze. References to the iconic ballet LA SYLPHIDE from 1832, the breakthrough for pointe technique and for the ideal of feather-light female bodies, merge with stunts, freak show, body art and slapstick into a celebration of radical female self-empowerment. This is not an experience for the faint-hearted!
