Hüsnü Şenlendirici comes from a deeply musical family rooted in the tradition of Roman Havası—a jazz-infused Roma-Turkish dance music. Both of his grandfathers were trumpet and clarinet players, and his father, Ergün Şenlendirici, was a member of Okay Temiz’s Magnetic Band, a group Hüsnü himself later joined as a teenager. This marked the beginning of an international career, leading to tours and collaborations with bands ranging from the Brooklyn Funk Essentials to the German jazz-rock collective Embryo. With his own Taksim Trio, Şenlendirici fused traditional Roma-Turkish dance music with modern jazz influences, gaining worldwide recognition. In 2018, the trio performed to a sold-out audience at the Elbphilharmonie. Now, the multi-instrumentalist takes the stage at Kampnagel’s Grand Hall K6, performing alongside a chamber ensemble.
