Growing up, UK-based journalist Shahed Ezaydi was repeatedly asked how she could be a feminist while practicing her faith — a question that points to a deeper fault line: Muslim women are often erased from feminist spaces or framed as passive victims in need of saving. In THE OTHERED WOMAN, Ezaydi pushes back against these narratives with urgency and precision. She traces how they fuel gendered Islamophobia and a narrow, exclusionary feminism – and how they translate into real-world harm. Bringing together the voices of intersectional feminists, the book opens up a charged discursive space where self-determination is reclaimed on its own terms.
