JAJAJA
Radio Atopial: The Return of the Firefly-Rave
The Life-Art Guerilla JAJAJA takes over the Avant-Garten for one last time, celebrating the ecstasy of physical dance.
Since 2014, JAJAJA has been the auspicious performance substance of the Summer Festival – and has since become a flagship of the Hamburg art scene with engagements at the Schauspielhaus or with the group Hajusom. Here, the primal idea of Atopia (from the Greek a-topos, meaning “without a place”) becomes physical: From three mini-stage studios, radically different musical worlds broadcast simultaneously into the ether. All participants transform into a dancing swarm of tri-colored fireflies. To join, the audience simply needs to grab one of the 180 free headphones and choose from three different channels, each causing the headphones to glow in a different color. The repertoire of the performance family JAJAJA ranges from interactive choreographies and Dadaist audio plays to EDM disco sets. The collective consists of actress and performer Iris Minich, sound artist and performer Arvild J. Baud, and their son, musician and performer Oskar Minich, alongside rotating guests. For the final Summer Festival edition before the renovation of the Kampnagel halls, JAJAJA will perform not only over the weekend but also on Thursday (a.k.a. “Little Friday”).
