One bar. Two men. One piano. There will be smoking and drinking. Laughter and arguments. Hugs and kisses. Dancing and singing. It will end in exhilaration. Or in intoxication as the case may be. Every evening Selig frontman Jan Plewka gives three different concerts, which each take a different intoxicant as their theme: love, drugs and alcohol. Plewka sings songs about highs and lows, from Heinz Erhard to the Dead Kennedys, and is accompanied by his Selig bandmate and multi-instrumentalist Leo Schmidthals. They play in the KANALspielhaus Flora, a new cultural centre set up by artistic group Baltic Raw as part of the Festival Avant-Garden. The evening will be staged by Tom Stromberg, who produced the concert evening SOUND OF SILENCE with Jan Plewka at last year’s Summer Festival, which has since played to full houses at Kampnagel.
