After last year’s sold-out RAUSCH marathon, this year’s VERSIONE ITALIANA will be taking place in the backroom of the Italian restaurant just across the street.
Last year, it started with a bar, two men and a piano – and ended with intoxication (in German: Rausch). The sold-out marathon took place in the festival’s Avant-Garten and was filled with songs about love, drugs and alcohol that left audience members feeling touched and buoyant. At this year’s Summerfestival, the marathon will continue in the backroom of our favorite Italian restaurant, located just across the street – an Italian frenzy of Italian music and Italian stories about amore, vino and ecstatic wanderlust. At Giancarlo in the Il Pavone restaurant, you can also order pizza to go along with your vino. The entire event is staged by the Summerfestival’s in-house director, Tom Stromberg who – as the director of TAT Frankfurt in the early 90s and later at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus – was one of the first to open up German theater for new forms and countries. And who in 2013 staged SOUND OF SILENCE with Jan Plewka, a concert evening that has been touring to sold-out audiences ever since.
