Isadora Duncan

In 2004, the international conceptual choreographer Jérôme Bel began a series of dancer portraits with »Veronique Doisneau«, which focused on the actor as an individual and performatively documented the experiences of selected artistic personalities. For the first time, he dedicates his latest performance to a deceased icon: Isadora Duncan is considered a pioneer and trailblazer of modern dance and, as a woman who lived first in the USA and then later in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, was also known for her feminist commitment as well as for promoting the young dance generation. Based on her autobiographical book »My Life«, Bel discovers a visionary choreographer who created the basis for modern dance through her great freedom of expression as well as her preference for spontaneity and naturalness.
