Performer, director and choreographer Helen Schröder created her company’s first piece out of a maelstrom of suggestions from her ensemble and ideas of her own: Angela wants Flashdance, Guy wants something from Meg Stuart, Edda wants everyone to be naked and Giovanni wants a solo on pointe shoes. But the plan was actually to dance Beach Birds by Merce Cunningham.
