The first concert of our IN/AUDIBLE SOUNDS series: Dancemusic-Futurist Portable joins forces with experimental club musician Kyoka.

The series IN/AUDIBLE SOUNDS (see below) shows how supposedly »Western« musical styles were and are global phenomena. The first part focuses on exciting new concepts in the world of experimental club music. Originally scheduled with Ethiopian musician Mikael Seifu (who had to cancel his show due to illness), the Summer Festival is now thrilled to present Portable, one of the most innovate club music artists around. Born and raised in South Africa, for 15 years the singer and musician has created a deep form of electronic Soul and Dance Music with roots in South African styles. Also under the moniker of Bodycode, Portable has released albums on various labels such as Perlon; his tracks have created a world wide buzz - such as »Surrender«, which also has been released in a remix by DJ Koze on his recent DJ Kicks-album. Accompanying Portable's show at the Summer Festival, a new album named after his birth name »Alan Abrahams« will be released on !k7 records. Portable joins forces with Berlin resident Kyoka, who was trained as a classical musician in Japan during her childhood, and discovered the creative potential of synthesizers and laptops during her studies. She used them to turn field-recordings and partially self-built instruments into a basis for experimental club music. Her music was recently released by the music label institution Raster Noton.

IN/AUDIBLE SOUNDS OPENING: ATA KAK (MI 10.08.) IN/AUDIBLE SOUNDS II: Overthrust / Ultha (MI 17.08) IN/AUDIBLE SOUNDS III: Okmalumkoolkat / Robot Koch (DO 18.08)
