Linda Hayford is known as an ambassador of popping, but her dance practice has constantly evolved through her encounters between genres and moves such as funk, hype, locking, new style and house. Linda is a member of the Paradox-sal group, a member of the FAIR-E collective, and co-director of the Center chorégraphique in Rennes, France. With her own works Shapeshifting, AL/SHE/ME and Recovering, she has developed her unique dance style Shifting Pop. Shifting Pop finds its roots in the technique of popping, a funk style dance born in the United States and is a sensory and emotional exploration of popping to guide the dancer toward a different body awareness and a metamorphosis in order to expand the range of possibilities. Both a postural language and a precise technical too, Shifting Pop is designed to be embodied and performed with an organic consciousness. Linda Hayford has designed a transmission process to share her experience and expand her practice to artists who approach movement differently.
