HALLUCINATIONS OF AN ARTIFACT deals with the “Dancing Girl” figurine, a politically and historically controversial figure of the Indus Valley Civilisation, which is considered the earliest evidence of dance in Indian culture. HALLUCINATIONS OF AN ARTIFACT performatively interrupts the various historical narratives that frame “Dancing Girl” and brings her to life. Is it possible to transform the “Dancing Girl” sculpture with dancing bodies and artificial intelligence?
