Mazzaj Band

Mazzaj Rap Band was founded in Tartous in Syria in 2007, when Mohammad Abu Hajar (Rapper and Producer), Alaa Odeh and Hazem Zghaibe joined forces. When the war started Abu Hajar was imprisoned and tortured because of his music and political activism. He fled to Italy where he did his Masters in Political Economics and came to Berlin where he joined forces with Ahmad Niou (Percussionist and Vocals) to restart the band again as well as new collaborations with local and international musicians.

Syrian situation

In 2011 segments of the Syrian people revolted against the Assad regime and startet the Arab Spring. Eight years later, Syria is devastated by war and more than 6 million people fled the country. Kampnagel curator Anas Aboura invited Syrian artists and activists to discuss the current situation in their country.

فرقة الراب »مزاج«

تشكلت فرقة مزاج في مدينة طرطوس عام ٢٠٠٧ عندما قرر محمد أبو حجر (مغني راب ومنتج ) مع علاء عوده وحازم زغبي توحيد جهودهم وتشكيل الفرقة.

عندما بدأت الثورة في سوريا تم اعتقال أبو حجر بسبب أغانيه الداعية للثورة ونشاطه السياسي والإنساني إزاء أبناء شعبه, بعدها هاجر على إيطاليا وأكمل دراسته هناك باختصاص الاقتصاد السياسي, وبعدها انتقل للعيش في برلين وهناك اجتمع بمحمد نيعو (عازف إيقاع ومغن) وأعاد إحياء الفرقة من جديد وكانت الفرقة منفتحة على التعاون مع الفناني المحليين والعالميين.
