HYPER HYPER is a venture by the inclusive ensemble Meine Damen und Herren, which is constantly reinventing the wedding ceremony on loop. Getting married - a scene we've seen a thousand times before - on stage, in movies and in real life. A hackneyed ritual then? Certainly not when MDUH put it through its Lucky Loop. They help themselves to the buffet of theater forms, working methods and rules and every repetition brings a new surprise: the supposedly familiar wedding scene is sometimes played as an anarchic musical, then in pompous costumes, in plain language or as a performance in which the audience can become part of the ceremony themselves. Then we get to know the perspective of a wedding planner through documentary theater.
The play plays with expectations of romantic relationships and addresses longings and fears that often remain unspoken. The ensemble brings its diverse perspectives to the discussion about marriage and relationships. Dealing with the construct of marriage opened up new possibilities for the ensemble to negotiate experiences and fantasies on stage - a place where reality and imagination merge. HYPER HYPER offers fresh impulses and unexpected twists with every round. And when the wild loop comes to a standstill, a sensitive perspective on love and self-determination opens up.On the question of who is allowed to marry whom and what becomes possible when we repeat something that has already happened a thousand times with new rules. The boundaries of viewing habits and norms are opened up ever further and rules are questioned with all the rules of the art.The rules of marriage, but also those of the theater - because here there is no director who decides what happens.Who decides what people want to see on stage and find beautiful? Does everyone have to understand everything? And what rules does the play need so that a collective of 20 members can work together to create an evening of theater that is more than the sum of its parts? And then the Lucky Loop starts up again and the next round begins.
