Info

Past dates

Lent at Migrantpolitan: While Khalaf and Mustapha try to stick to the tough rules of Ramadan, others like Issa or Leyla do not care so much about this religious practice. Abou has other concerns anyway and is embarking on a dubious project with music producer Larry Deluxe. When beautiful Yasmin, persecuted by her own family, shows up at Migrantpolitan, everything gets mixed up. And even German strangers mingle with the people in a strikingly inconspicuous manner... Debates about Residency rights, lovesickness, the Afro-Vegan Revolution, stress with the authorities, false accusations and the endless question: Where exactly is Mecca again?

Countless television series are created annually in the Arab world especially for Ramadan, the fasting month that began on April 23 and ends on May 23, 2020. Every evening while fast-breaking, millions of people worldwide immerse themselves in the beautiful, colorful world of Ramadan-dramas, as the soap operas are also called. With RAMADRAM, an experimental, multilingual self-made soap opera has now been created on Kampnagel for Lent 2020, whose storylines have been taken from life, but have been fictionalized and improvised. The film was shot exclusively in the Migrantpolitan at Kampnagel by and with community members. The 17 episodes of the series will be published on YouTube from April 27th, Monday to Thursday at 10pm (except Thursday, May 21st). The finale will go online at the end of Ramadan, on Saturday May 23rd for the Sugar Feast.

RAMADRAM is an experimental self-made soap opera whose fictionalized and improvised storylines are inspired by real life. After the speculative reality show HELLO DEUTSCHLAND – DIE EINWANDERER (Hello Germany – the Immigrants), New Media Socialism continues its self-appointed mandate of using emancipatory methods to improve the media representation of migrants and refugees in Germany.

Migrantpolitan at Kampnagel

The Migrantpolitan on the Kampnagel site is an action space in which diasporic artists and local artists engage in an exchange process, jointly develop transcultural strategies and try out new aesthetic practices. This microcosm is a laboratory for solidarity cooperation, in which new ideas are developed, cultural self-determination has its place and a pinch of anarchy is an integral part. Many of the activities are public - and everyone is welcome to join the Migrantpolitan Community.
