Watch out, Europe! Here comes the new African pop sensation with the style of Grace Jones and with a shot of Angelique Kidjo. In her songs, the androdgynous singer enjoys criticising male-dominated culture in great detail and makes it clear what she thinks of household violence, namely nothing. She prefers to see young women at school, not being forced to marry and she captures the hearts of her feminist listeners. Musically she shifts between her astonishing pop timbre, dance hall sounds and traditional beats. The ‘young African lioness’ sings her own songs in English or Sisaala, her mother tongue. Wiyaala, also known as ‘the young lioness of Africa’, embodies modern Africa: creative, brave, strong, beautiful. The concert is followed by a closing party with DJ Steloo.
