What does escape do to people who must leave behind their legal status and their identity and, when they arrive in a new country, are forced to fight hard to get both of them back? This question has played on the mind of theatre writer Afsane Ehsandar since she fled from Iran. ENDLESS HOSPITALITY is a grotesque drama about the inside story of escape, about stories that aren’t told in any country and about a prison cell as a place people yearn for. Working with director Philip Baumgarten and an international ensemble of dancers and actors, Ehsandar uses ENDLESS HOSPITALITY to try to cease the replication of victim roles and shock, and to report on events where the protagonists remain absent.
