Inspired by Richard Holbrooke’s To End a War and Kadare’s The General of the Dead Army, NEGOTIATING PEACE attempts to confront the audience with the background, challenges, fears and hopes involved in reaching a peace agreement and discusses important questions: Who has the power and legitimacy to negotiate peace? Do people really reconcile after the signing of a peace agreement? And finally, can there ever be collective forgiveness, or is forgiveness an individual act?

3 men are standing together, the two on the left are each holding a glass and are laughing, the one on the right has his arms crossed but is smiling. In the background you can see the men again, from the opposite perspective of the photo, in a blue tint

In the foreground there is a dancing woman in a black rabbit mask. Behind her is fog and blue light, on the left behind her are two people facing each other and holding a red cloth. Both appear to be speaking or singing.

In the centre there is a large, red-lit, round conference table. A woman is sitting on a chair on the left and an old man is sitting directly in front of her on the table. In the background there is a grey close-up of the seated woman's face

At the front is a woman in a long black dress and a red jacket. She stands on a circular platform and is holding a world map in front of her. Behind her there are other people, all holding scissors in front of their faces with both hands.
