KRASS Festival 12: Ost

The relationship between Western and Eastern Europe is dominated by a great misunderstanding - both historical and current: between post-communist depression, Western and Chinese investments whose profits only reach the rich, the emigration of the younger generation, extreme nationalism and clericalism that distracts from the real problems, a wild capitalism without social consciousness, between wars and poverty and the mythical mystery of Eastern Europe, which has never been understood by the West. The post-communist world is an unsolvable riddle for the West. The West was a great promise for the East and is an even greater disappointment today. In the KRASS 2024 edition, we are confronting this West-East misunderstanding with art - because only culture finds ways and articulations beyond differences, formulates the status quo and searches for new versions of the future.

KRASS Festival invites the most relevant new voices from Eastern Europe to open up a different perspective and previously unheard narratives.
