In Moldova, too, the triumph of the capitalist system and technological progress have changed everything in recent decades. A future as a community project and a good life for all have become a distant prospect. Today we live in a world in which there is less and less togetherness and more and more of an exploited, alienated and stressed ego. The system wants us to work tirelessly and never sleep. The second part of the trilogy SINFONIE DES FORTSCHRITTS reclaims the right to tell the history of the East from the East and the right to imagine an alternative to capitalism again. With interviews and field reports, Nicoleta Esinencu and the collective teatru-spălătorie are creating a new archive that makes voices from Eastern Europe audible. In this way, PLAYING ON NERVES. A PUNK DREAM becomes the nightmare of capitalism. Esinencu, winner of the Tabori Award International 2022, which comes with prize money of 15,000 Euro, will be coming to Hamburg for the first time.
