Soap&Skin / stargaze

Together with the stargaze ensemble of André de Ridder (who will also lead the concert of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra with Bell Orchestre at Elbphilharmonie on August 23), the Austrian musician Soap&Skin will perform older songs as well as her latest studio album »From Gas to Solid / you are my friend« in a version for chamber orchestra. After various works for film and theatre and collaborations with, among others, Jungstötter, with this album Anja Plaschg alias Soap&Skin follows up her raw, furious predecessor records from 2009 and 2012, through which the 1990-born pianist and singer established her exceptional status in the international music scene: Hardly anyone sang »Please help me« more forcefully or wrote farewell arias with more orchestral impact. Plaschg took a deep look behind the textures of the pop surface and created a musical range from the most subtle chamber music to noise thunderstorms. On her recent album, Plaschg processes field recordings of instruments and sounds she has made over the past ten years and put together as samples; classical instruments and Soap&Skin’s deep drilling vocals unite to a vibrant beauty, which will now – as an extended sound experience with the stargaze ensemble – make the Elbphilharmonie vibrate.
