A festival academy with students from Hamburg and Marseille who are also documenting the festival, live and in color.

On the 60-year anniversary of the twinning agreement between Hamburg and Marseille, the International Summer Festival and the Ministry for Culture and Media are offering a festival residency to young artists and students from the fields of performing or visual arts and media- and cultural studies from Hamburg and Marseille. In Hamburg, the festival academy will be preceded by a seminar on festival dramaturgy at the Theaterakademie. In August, students will be able to spend excessive amounts of time at the festival, but also gain insights through discussions, workshops and rehearsal visits. The students will make their discoveries and findings public online through photos, moving images, texts or sound pieces, and will ultimately present them during a public talk. They will also deliver their overall reflections about the festival in an installation in the Kampnagel foyer created by architecture students of the HafenCity University, that will also serve as a workspace and meeting point for residents and the audience.
