THE GENTLEMEN OF MADNESS

In the second part of their Europe trilogy, the Hamburg group Follown confronts the mystical side of Africa. The traumatic experience of colonialism gave birth to crazy ghosts and today these ghosts feel appointed to visit and tend to ailing Europe. In an insane collage of scenes from theatre, film, dance and imagination, the piece THE GENTLEMEN OF MADNESS exposes the construction of threat and fear through that which is foreign. The title refers to the controversial documentary film, ‘Les Maitres fou’ by French filmmaker Jean Rouch.
