Twerkshops & DJ-Set

Fannie Sosa is an artist, activist, PhD student and DJ. Dazed & Confused magazine counts her as one of the five most revolutionary young feminists in the world. But first and foremost she is one thing: the high priestess of ass-shaking, and she is using her twerkshops to transform colonised and self-alienating bodies around the world. Sex-positive feminism, the creation of community, spiritualism, resistance, therapy, sisterhood, return to cultural roots – for the Brazilian-Argentinian artist this all culminates in a twerk. Fannie Sosa reclaims a dance style that has become a massive trend in the capitalist, male-dominated entertainment industry of the internet 2.0 generation. With the slogan, ‘Pleasure is Power’ she unites us with our bodies’ ghetto, which today is always either forgotten, suppressed or over-sexualised. Her twerkshops aren’t just dance courses – they are political, transformative and informative spaces. Fannie Sosa will spend three days delighting us with her teachings, before providing an electrifying DJ set as the grand finale.
