L’ INVOCATION À L A MUSE stages a poet suffering from writer’s block who calls on the muses for help to improvise a poem for the audience. But instead of the ancient deities, a queer muse appears. Since antiquity, the figure of the muse has been a projection screen for a sexist, white, slightly eroticised understanding of artistic creation. But the history of the arts, the diversity of artistic processes and of the artists themselves and the diversity of their experiences has proven time and again that this concept must give way to new representations.
