Verena Brakonier

This solo takes two different dance translation processes as its theme. Inspired by Laban’s book DIE WELT DES TÄNZERS (THE DANCER’S WORLD) and its descriptions of movement, Verena Brakonier concentrates on the transformation of dance into language and vice versa. She is particularly interested in the point at which both forms of communication fail: the imperfect as something human, far removed from the ideal but perhaps closer to us; the constant demands for action as a starting point for something new, but also an attempt at being free from the authority of words. At the same time, she works on the transfer into the public space and also on a specific mediation format for dance.
