Fokus Tanz #4 Faux Pas

Whether it takes the form of a harmless swarm or utopian stage community, dance is constantly engaging with the political and answering theoretical debates with bodies. Dance often becomes a counter-model when verbally stiffened discussions are no longer effective. For a long time now, choreography has meant more than just dancing previously arranged movements. As a genre-in-process, it unlocks other fields’ and artistic genres’ principles, which it uses to explore scopes of action and critically examines mainstream body images. Whether concretely political or aesthetic, its empowering potential and social relevance emerge when it becomes a form of resistance. During the fourth FOKUS TANZ: FAUX PAS, trendsetting international and local artists present -- with three premieres and numerous workshops and lectures -- their personal ways of sensually expanding borders. Viewers of all different interest levels in dance are invited to discover the genre, and, in particular, try out its methods.
