Urban Species – presented by Nordwind 2014

How much nature is sacred to man, how much technology is necessary for life today? Where does nature exhibit urban structures, where do unadulterated instincts operate in urban life? How thin is the border between civilisation and wildness and who has the power? The URBAN SPECIES thematic focus presents artists from the Nordic countries and Germany whose works deal with the tense relationship between city and country, between man and animal, between the natural and the artificial. The programme includes performances, installations, films, sculptures, lectures and presentations.

URBAN SPECIES is organised by NORDWIND in cooperation with Kampnagel, as an interlude before the next NORDWIND festival edition in December 2015. Supported by Kulturbehörde Hamburg, Norwegian Ministry of Culture, Finnish Ministry of Culture, Tinfo, City of Helsinki, Kulturkontakt Nord, Nordisk Kulturfond, Swedish Cultural Council, Konstnärsnämden, Co-financing Fund of the Berlin Senate, Kulturamt Pankow, Norwegian Embassy, Dans og Teatercentrum Norway.
