Amanda Palmer

One month after the program release, we received a request we couldn’t turn down: Amanda Palmer, legendary musician and one half of the punk-cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls, was available on short notice – after years of not performing in Hamburg – for a Summer Festival concert. That’s why we’re now extending our concert series at St. Gertrud Church (featuring Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, among others), to present a singer, songwriter, playwright, pianist, author, director, and blogger who has seamlessly blended music, theater, and art in groundbreaking works. Palmer’s solo albums “Who Killed Amanda Palmer” (2008) and “Theatre Is Evil” (2012) are considered classics. Her songs were heard at Kampnagel just last year in Florentina Holzinger’s Summer Festival co-production “A Year Without Summer.” For years, Amanda Palmer has financed her artistic independence through the Patreon platform, engaging directly with thousands of fans who know that her music, lyrics, and – above all – live performances are intense encounters with an artist who takes us through the highs and lows of existence – and who will revive the sense of community within the sacred space of the church.
