Singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan has had to endure many comparisons because of his distinctive voice: Janis Joplin, his own grandmother or a wounded cat were such references to describe Avidan's vocals, which span several octaves and lament forms. Whereby he himself liked the wounded cat the most: »Anyone who has ever stumbled across a half-dead cat knows that it doesn't just go dead. It screams and complains. And that's how I see myself, too. For me, it's about expressing my feelings as directly as possible,« he told Deutschlandfunk radio. The studied film animator became known in Europe via a dance remix by the Berlin DJ Wankelmut in 2012, whose »One Day / Reckoning Song« is probably known to everyone who has ever turned on a car radio. Asaf Avidan himself, however, prefers his own songs, with which he has gained a large fan base on four solo albums so far. The son of Israeli diplomats, who once found his way to music through lovesickness, is famous above all for his expressively emotional concerts in such diverse contexts as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Sanremo summit of emo barding, and now also in the large hall of the Kampnagel Center for Feelings and Finer Arts.
