The history of hip hop in Germany is linked to the name Eko Fresh. His father Nedim Hazar came to Germany in 1980 as a political refugee, where the musician, filmmaker and author gained a foothold in the cultural scene. Now Hazar has initiated DEUTSCHLANDLIEDER, a project that deals with the history of the music of Turkish guest workers and brings together 12 stars from then and now with an 11-piece band on stage: from Eko Fresh himself to Ata Canani (who was also a guest at last year’s summer festival) to the living legend Metin Türköz. DEUTSCHLANDLIEDER retells the history of the Federal Republic of Germany – through the songs and from the perspective of migrants who came to the Federal Republic after the German-Turkish recruitment agreement in 1961.
