Ever since Fatih Akin's award-winning documentary Crossing the Bridge, BaBa ZuLa have been regarded as the spearhead of progressive Turkish music, even beyond the Orient. The tradition of Sufi, Turkish nomads, and pre-Islamic shamanic music meets modern Oriental dub, Anatolian folk, and 60s psych rock. The band's credo is constant improvisation and reinterpretation of the Great Anadolu Songbook.
