Chilly Gonzales presents a unique program made up of compositions from his Solo Piano trilogy. This concert is presented in the inimitable PianoVision projection by Nina Rhode.

With 2003’s »Solo Piano,« Chilly Gonzales helped spur a 21st-century revival of the dying genres that were classical and jazz. The self-described »musical genius« continued expanding his unexpected, serendipitous virtuosity in 2012 with »Solo Piano II,« another masterpiece with songs as catchy as popsongs. Thanks to his creative output as entertainer, musician and composer, but also his work as co-writer for Drake, Feist and Daft Punk he has drawn ever-larger audiences. Gonzales has released albums of his own – including »Chambers,« with the Kaiser Quartett, and »Octave Minds« with Boys Noize – and developed a stage piece – ROOM 29, with Jarvis Cocker at Kampnagel. He has also founded his own music academy, The Gonzervatory, whose collaborators have included Peaches and Socalled (both have major works in this year's Summer Festival). With 2018’s »Solo Piano III,« he finished his piano trilogy. As in every final act, things race towards a finish line, even as obstacles and consequences from earlier in the work reemerge. Like its predecessors, the album’s dissonances, tensions and ambiguities ultimately make way for a happy ending in C major, becoming a mirror for our times, and providing a glorious ending to a pioneering piano trilogy, from whose entirety Gonzales will now play for the first time, presented with Nina Rhode’s iconic PianoVision projection.
