Musician, actor and activist Debbie Harry is the personification of cool. In the 70s, she and her band Blondie melded punk, disco reggae and hip hop to create Downtown New York’s hottest sound. Blondie became a landmark in music history and Debbie Harry a precursor of sex-positive feminism and the Riot Grrrl movement. Her autobiography is an intimate, unsparing and deeply humorous collection of anecdotes from this era, which Harry and her then boyfriend Chris Stein, Blondie’s co-founder and guitarist, are bringing to the stage at Kampnagel. The evening will be moderated by New Yorkbased artist and filmmaker Rob Roth, who also designed the book, which is richly illustrated with photographs and other images.
