Festival Avant-Garten

By & with Jascha & Franz, Jajaja, Martina Palmer, Schatz Gmbh, Klimaströme

The Avant-Garden is the heart of the Kampnagel festival site – and Hamburg’s most beautiful summer spot. At the outdoor space of the Peacetanbul restaurant (p.xx), festival artists, guests, and newcomers meet for free installations, performances, and concerts every evening. This year, the theme of connections guides the garden design by scenographer duo Jascha & Franz, while the art and research festival Klimaströme invites children and teens to explore water, environmental protection, and diversity through workshops and performances. The Love & Labour series brings a top-notch program of readings and concerts to the Waldbühne, while the analog dating company Schatz GmbH, founded by two HfBK students, matches festival visitors for short- or long-term flirts. In the evenings, Migrantpolitan hosts events like the cult Soli-Casino, while Hamburg’s Live Art Guerilla JAJAJA transforms the garden into a dance floor with their iconic headphone parties every Friday and Saturday. Local legend Martina Palm creates live portraits of visitors, while Oona Doherty’s exhibition runs in the foyer.
