Waldbühne Kultursommer Special at Kampnagel – presented by NDR and ZEIT-Stiftung

14:30 – 16:00 HEXE KNICKEBEIN Hexe Knickebein sings comical songs in German about gangsters, the three construction workers, of city mouse and country mouse and of the cook who brews a robber's soup from seven turnips, whilst also offering real musical quality. Combining unusual instruments, such as the sousaphone, with amusing costume disguises, the children's audience is invited to join in with the musical fun.

18:0019:00 ZEITGEISTER. DER PODCAST FÜR MUSIK, KULTURGESCHICHTE UND GEGENWART – LIVE: »HILDEGARD KNEF, DER HOCHHAUSBOOM UND DIE GESCHICHTE WEIBLICHER EINSAMKEIT«
Ralf Schlüter mit Gast Ebba Durstewitz It is one of the most beautiful and strangest songs in German language: »Im achtzigsten Stockwerk« (On the 80th floor) by Hildegard Knef. A girl in a skyscraper is »waiting for the man«. Ralf Schlüter explores the abysses behind this sketch of loneliness and modern architecture, together with the singer Ebba Durstewitz (JaKönigJa).

19:30 – 21:00 POSE DIA Helena Ratka is a filmmaker, musician and one part of the duo Shari Vari, which performed at last summer's festival (and whose second half Sophia Kennedy will also be a guest this year on August 12). Ratka recently released her album debut under her new pseudonym Pose Dia. Her tracks assume the most diverse forms - from supercooled synth-wave sounds, to - equally - the weightless effortlessness of pop and the dsytopian urgency of contemporary club music, to flashes of hip-hop.

Kanalbühne Kultursommer Special at Kampnagel – presented by NDR and ZEIT-Stiftung

20:00 PHILIPPS PLAYLIST & NDR AKADEMISTEN (YANN METZMACHER & HARUKA SUGITANI) Every week, NDR Kultur host Philipp Schmid compiles a handpicked selection of music from pop, jazz and classical in his podcast »Philipp's Playlist« and skillfully combines tracks on the piano. He will perform a live edition of the podcast as part of the Kultursommer Special organized by NDR and ZEIT-Stiftung at Kampnagel and will be supported by academy members of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and the Hamburg keyboard king Carsten Erobique Meyer. After a chamber-musical Béla Bartók interjection by violinist Yann Metzmacher and his colleague Haruka Sugitani (NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra), there is a smooth transition into the set of the Hamburg Spinners.

20:30 – 22:00 HAMBURG SPINNERS Hamburg Spinners is a supergroup consisting of Carsten »Erobique« Meyer, producer Dennis Rux, Afrokraut specialist David Nesselhauf and The KBCS drummer Lucas Kochbeck. Mixing Organ Jazz, Stax-records and Morricone soundtracks, they conjure up a Hamburg of the past without sounding antiquated. At Kampnagel they present themselves and their new album live to the Hamburg audience for the first time.

17:00 DER BOY DIVISON FERNSEHGARTEN

After the sensational success at the 2019 summer festival (including a mini-clash) and the second round at the Corona-Special Edition 2020, Boy Division present part 3 of their classic German TV show remake - including real star guests from radio and television.

FESTIVAL AVANT-GARTEN INFO

Like last year, Hamburg's pearl of pleasure parks will be designed by JASCHA&FRANZ - conceptually accompanied by the long-time festival associated performance group JAJAJA and extended by a Waldbühne by Urs Amadeus Ulbrich and Gras & Steine. With references to fun fairs and theme parks and with a concept for accessibility, the Festival Avant-Garden offers various areas with installations, performances, culinary delights from the Peacetanbul Restaurant and a daily changing program on several open-air stages and the Migrantpolitan building (details in the program overview).

Capacity is limited due to the pandemic and access is only possible with a personalized ticket (3€, available in advance and at the box office). With a ticket for another festival performance on the same evening you can enter the garden for free - as long as there is enough capacity, otherwise there might be bridgeable waiting times. Seated areas in front of the various garden stages will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Details about hygiene rules on site will be published here in due time.

HERE you will find all the latest information and Corona rules for your visit.
