Why are we here? Are we loved? Will we graduate from school? And will there still be someone who remembers us in 100 years' time? A group of young people wind their way through perhaps the hardest time of their lives. Driven by the feeling of loneliness and the longing for closeness, by ignorance and boundless curiosity, by the pressure to perform and sheer despair, they struggle through the school year. They experience violence, abuse and death. In the end, there is a small spark of hope for all the survivors (and perhaps even the dead). Wedekind's drama is more than a coming-of-age drama, it is an unsparing story that has lost none of its revolutionary power to this day and will be unleashed in a new and contemporary way.

With Ludger Vollmer, Luiz de Godoy, Neco Çelik, Martin G. Berger, Alexander Wolf, Jan Speckenbach, Dr. Angela Beuerle, The Young ClassX, Alsterspatzen - Der Kinder- und Jugendchor der Hamburgischen Staatsoper, Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, Felix Mendelssohn Jugendorchester and more.

The production is made possible by the Michael Otto Foundation. The opera piccola series is supported by the Foundation for the Promotion of the Hamburg State Opera.
