A psychedelic improv-jam project centered on musical bridge-builder Baris K from Istanbul.

Insanlar (Turkish for »humankind«) is the live project of pioneering Istanbul DJ, producer and edit-specialist Baris K. Together with saz-player Cem Yildiz and percussionist Hoger, he creates improv jams that combine Turkey’s rich musical tradition with shimmering acid bass-lines and psychedelic percussion – and a contemporary political perspective. The song »Kime-Ne,« for example, quotes a poem from the humanistically oriented 17th-century Hurufi tradition that was also a reference point during the Gezi Park protests. Thanks to a hypnotic, 17-minute remix by the highpriest of DJs, Ricardo Villalobos, for London’s Honest Jon’s Records, the song has become a global club hit. The Summer Festival now presents one of the band’s rare live appearances. Before that the german-anatolian electronic-kraut project Circuit Diagram feat. Derya Yildirim plays a support set. Moreover Baris K will spin treasures from his record collection afterwards, and culinary specialties from Kampnagel restaurant impresario Ergün Yagbasan will be served at the bar.
