Dial Records is the name of the loose label collective centered around Peter Kersten aka Lawrence, and David Lieske aka Carsten Jost. Since their beginnings at the legendary Changing Weather parties at the Golden Pudel Club, the label has become a true institution. It has a pronounced soft spot for visual art, releasing music by artists as diverse as Pantha Du Prince, Dirk von Lotzow and Efdemin, and organizing club nights around the world. For the Summer Festival, Dial presents an evening of artists working just on the edges of techno and house. Despite – or perhaps because of – this, they are a perfect fit for the label. James K’s recently released debut combines gloomy ambient surfaces with fragile pop vocals. Dawn Mok, who has roots in Berlin, Seoul, Virginia, Bangkok and California, makes melancholic, futuristic RnB for a post-ecstasy depression the morning-after, and conceptual musician Christian Naujoks presents his most recent album, which was produced with Tobias Levin and composed exclusively for the electric guitar.
