Extra show on Sunday 15th January! There’s no doubt that Tom Stromberg and Jan Plewka are among our most popular regular guests here at Kampnagel, and their shows always sell out completely. So by popular demand we are hosting three more performances of their Simon & Garfunkel evening that premiered at the 2013 Summer Festival. It’s difficult to name a band who have had a more hazy position in pop history than Simon & Garfunkel: the former student bandmates (Tom & Jerry) split up in 1970 after five albums, on which they delivered the musical consolation for a politically shaken America. With deep introspection, they gravitated towards peace in non-peaceful times and yet also delivered hazy protest metaphors. Jan Plewka, front man of the pop band Selig, interprets the famous male duo’s escapist songs in these times of pop retro-mania: SOUND OF SILENCE is a wonderfully entertaining evening of musical theatre, with songs from the collective musical memory, brought to you by the team behind Plewka’s Rio Reiser evening. This piece has been performed more than 150 times all over Europe, and is one of the most successful productions by the Hamburg Schauspielhaus under the artistic direction of Tom Stromberg.
