Jorge Drexler

Having won an Academy Award and thirteen Latin Grammys, including seven in 2022 for his latest album »Tinta y Tiempo,« Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler is one of Latin America‘s most successful musicians. Born in Montevideo to a German-Jewish father who escaped the Holocaust, Drexler was a busy doctor before deciding to become a full-time singer and moving to Madrid in 1995. On fourteen studio albums in 30 years, Drexler has created groundbreaking songs inspired by literature and science, blending traditional Uruguayan music (candombe, murga, milonga, tango) with bossa nova, pop, jazz and electronic music. After touring the world with a larger ensemble, Drexler now performs songs from his impressive catalogue solo with guitar and vocals, presenting Spanish-language music history in its purest form.
