The band name Khebez Dawle means ‘The bread of my country’. Bread is symbolic for this band. It is the foundation of all their projects, be they political or musical. With their Arabian post-rock, the Syrian band wants to give a political sign, and to ask for solidarity among all Syrians. The band members fled Syria before the war and reunited in the Lebanon in 2012. They travelled through Turkey to Greece, and the first thing they did when they reached the island of Lesbos was to distribute their CDs to the Greek people. For the band stood firm: ‘We will continue to make music’. By doing this they wish to show that not all refugees are poor and helpless, and they want to speak for Syrians who have no voice.
