The third day of the festival begins with a panel discussion with members of Quatuor Bozzini and the Canadian composer Chiyoko Szlavnics, who will perform a piece later in the evening. In the following concert evening, the quartet's last concert will be framed by two performances by The Paranormal Clarinet Society from Berlin. The ensemble is a newly formed clarinet octet in which musicians from a wide variety of musical milieus (from academic to self-taught), production methods (composed, improvised and conceptual music) and different origins (Argentina, Australia, Israel, Germany, Japan and the USA) come together; it is performing in Hamburg for the first time. In each concert, a work composed especially for the ensemble by Sam Dunscombe and Kai Fagaschinski will be performed. In Fagaschinski's piece, the musicians are distributed around the audience; in Dunscombe's piece, the audience sits around the ensemble.
Between the two performances of The Paranormal Clarinet Society, Quatuor Bozzini will present three other works by Canadian composers in the evening's central concert. In addition to the piece by Chiyoko Szlavnics, one is by Emilie LeBel, the other by James O'Callaghan.
