Laibach

After the Slovenian avant-garde prophets regularly shocked the titans with German texts (»Leben heißt Leben«) in their almost 40-year career, the monumental rockers are now returning with »Also Sprach Zarathustra« – a soundtrack recorded on an album, composed for a theater production in Novo Mesto, Slovenia based on Friedrich Nietzsche. While past Laibach works remained in a retro-avant-garde strategy in which musical material was ruthlessly appropriated and manipulated, the theater inspired the band to compose fine atmospheric dust. Influenced by the artist collective Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK), Laibach’s live concerts are always also spectacular multimedia tsunamis of images and sounds with a cleansing function: you always sleep well after a Laibach concert.
